Liposhifting is an innovative technique for corrective liposuction. It was developed in Germany by surgeons seeking an effective solution for unwanted grooves and indentations from liposuction surgery. It is performed under local anesthesia without pain, without scars and without a long recovery.
Specialized instruments loosen the scar tissue within the indented area and the normal fat cells surrounding the area. High intensity lipomassage is focused to fill the region with the loosened fat cells until the groove disappears.
Advantages
Fat cells never leave the body. Transplanted fat cell volume loss due to dehydration, excessive manipulation or contamination is minimized in comparison to fat injections. By harvesting the local fat the new contour also blends more naturally and less obviously.
Limitations
Success is dependent on the presence of an adequate supply of local fat around the indented area. Excessively large or deep indentations may require more fat than is available & may necessitate a combination of liposhifting and fat injections.
What to expect
Liposhifting is typically completed in under one hour. Fat at the treatment site is "locked" in place with a special dressing for the first week. Mild bruising is common, but discomfort is minimal. Pressure on the site is avoided for six weeks.

Out of Town PatientsMany lipo surgery patients at LVR-NJ travel considerable distances for our expertise in this procedure. We facilitate this process by providing the option of same-day consultation/same-day surgery. This is arranged in advance and by request at the time that you contact our office. Pre-operative bloodwork testing will need to be performed in advance through a local physician or lab near your home. Drs. Pelosi will review your situation to determine if this is an appropriate option. If you fly, or if your drive home is more than 2 hours, we recommend that you stay in the area overnight after your surgery so that Drs. Pelosi can evaluate you for proper healing on the day after surgery; afterwards, you may travel home. In certain situations, we can provide you with an overnight stay the night before your surgery if you are arriving late in the day. Click here for general travel info.
